Bad career advice: Do what you love
— via cygnoir. Wow, this really nailed and elaborated on something I’ve been thinking about/feeling for a month or two now.
It’s not that I don’t love web development, I really do. It’s just that ever since I moved to San Francisco, I seem to spend more and more energy on it, and less and less energy on the other things I love—most of which involved communities of friends, loved ones, and just other like-minded folks I left behind in Chicago. I’ve been awakening to this fact over the last year, and it’s really been in the back of my mind lately. No wonder I’ve been homesick.
