Something that came up in conversation over breakfast as this song came on the radio: You know how people mishear lyrics all the time? Happens to people of all ages in contextually solid ways. Case in point: this song came out when I was 7. I remember hearing it on the radio at that time and thinking the chorus was about a cartoon character. You know, with the magic sword and the power of Grayskull and the crazy outfit that wasn’t about bondage or nothin’. “He-Man, steppin’ out into the light.” Actually, I still hear that. I can’t unhear it.
