What Sarah Palin Is Saying - [Anil Dash]

And more specifically, how she’s saying it.

I’m not sure if I fully agree on Anil’s assertions about the message Palin is trying to convey, but I think he’s spot on about her conscious choice of how to convey it and her intentions for doing so.

Also, I share his sentiment that it’s dangerous to get caught up on her “folksy” speech as an indication of her fitness for the position of VP, or her intelligence. As someone with a regional accent, I do the same kind of code-switching all the time, for different reasons. (To be honest, I sometimes do it to see if people will assume I’m not as clever as the rest of the table… and I hate to say it, but some Californians fail this test. Not that it’s an objective measure or a perfect methodology, mind you, but…)
