A Fake Expert Named Martin Eisenstadt and a Phony Think Tank Fool Bloggers and the Mainstream News Media - NYTimes.com

(via Chris Glass) You know, I’ve known for years that blogs were becoming less-reliable sources for information (if they ever were), and that news outlets were starting to dangerously go down the same path in the quest for ratings, but man. Seriously?

I recall a cross-blog discussion from a few years ago, with one side calling for more journalistic integrity from webloggers, and it kind of got blown off at the time. Over the last year or two, I’ve started to really see their point.

Rock on, monkeywrenchers. All I ask is that at some point you come clean with a detailed post-mortem detailing where different outlets got lazy and how. We need to learn from your antics.

About

Recurring themes: LGBT issues, San Francisco tidbits, ukuleles, pirates, games, absurdism. I won't really talk about myself here, but you'll get a sense of me, anyway.

A 7au.net/Tumblr joint. Check out a random post, or you can say hi at jaschu at the gmail in the neighborhood of the dotted com. What little original content there is © Copyright 2007-2010 but, cripes, just ask first and I'll probably be cool. Righto!
